a blessing when you need love to conquer hate

God, I am stuck in a cycle of emotion
that feels a lot like hatred,
though I can hardly admit it.
 
O God of Love, help me to breathe here,
get my bearings, and find my way back to You.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

We put aside the easy burden,
which is self-accusation,
and weigh ourselves down with the heavy one,
self-justification.

Blessed are we who come to You, o God,
with hurt and anger in our hearts,
bringing it all to You
before it escapes our lips as invective,
or gets buried and stored up as bitterness.

Blessed are we who say,
God can we sit down together,
and sort this through in its entirety.
help me get to the bottom of it,
to the whole truth.
What do i need to know about this?
show me what i must resist, refute, or admit,
that i might remain straight and true inside,
to live in the integrity of a faith that says
to love our enemies.

God, this is hard.
because in facing the anger and rejection
that has come toward me,
a shadow appears,
and it has my own profile.

God reveals the deep and hidden things;
God knows what lies in darkness.
Daniel 2:22

The truth burns
through the tough layers that guard my heart
and what remains is pure desire
to be made supple and alive in Your love,
more sure ever that it is enmity itself
that has been judged
and rendered useless at the cross.

Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace
have kissed each other.
Psalm 85:10

God have mercy.

Spirit have mercy.

Peace is forgiveness received,
metabolized, and shared as love.

Through love, all pain
will turn to medicine.
