a blessing for when you need all the time to count

God,
after this pandemic of so many things missed,
we need all the time we have to really count.

O God,
show us what matters
and how to move toward it.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

If any of you lacks wisdom,
let him ask God, who gives generously
to all without reproach,
and it will be given him.
James 1:5 ESV

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

Blessed are we,
with all our disappointments and missed chances
remembering what they could have been.

Blessed are we,
listening to our unspoken desires
and asking for Your light o God
that we might see them better,
understand their source,
and name them.

Blessed are we, asking,
what is that which can be honoured in them,
protected, preserved,
and properly archived for later
in this time that refuses to be managed?

And what is it that needs to be put to bed
and sweetly tucked in for a long sleep
while we deal with other things.

And what is it, Lord,
that we can start to build,
even though it is bigger
than what we could ever accomplish
on our own?

Blessed are we, o God, waiting before You,
for the opening that is the gift,
the certainty that You hold us in love
that is for all eternity,
for the energy for the next pivot,
and the next dance.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

Stop. No really, stop.
ask what is this moment for? Then pivot.

Ask and it will be given to you;
search and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
